LDS 3 preview: Johnson vs. Rogers

Two lefties going. A combined age of 84.
2006 overall: Randy Johnson, 17-11, 5.00 era, 205 ip vs. Kenny Rogers, 17-8, 3.84 era, 204 ip

Randy pitched slightly better in the 2nd half, but Rogers was almost exactly the same - surprisingly consistent.

Kenny Rogers vs. Yanks (2004-06)
just one start, in June of '04: no decision, 4 ip, 6 er

Yanks vs. Rogers (career ops, at-bats)
Damon, .831 (49)
Jeter, 1.120 (20)
Abreu, .400 (5)
Sheffield, .863 (17)
Giambi, 1.567 (23)!
Arod, 2.046 (19)!
Matsui, 2.333 (3)
Posada, 1.563 (16)!
Cano, ---

Maybe Giambi, Arod and Posada should be hitting 3-5.

Randy vs. Detroit (2004-06)
3 starts: 2-1, 5.21 era, 19 ip

2006
2-0, 2.57 era, 14 ip

Detroit vs. Johnson
(bear in mind - normal lineup, not righty heavy)
Granderson, .000 (3)
Polanco, .870 (35)
Casey, .558 (12)
Ordonez, 1.000 (10)
Guillen, .556 (9)
Irod, .619 (73)
Monroe, .661 (7)
Thames, 1.189 (9)
Inge, .879 (6)
N. Perez, .952 (42)
Infante, 1.400 (5)

Look at Neifi Perez! Randy's got to be careful with that slider against those right-handed power hitters, especially Ordonez and Thames, who hit his first career HR off Randy - as a Yankee rookie in 2002 (a memorable game at the Stadium).
